Family Friendly Movies In Fairfax, Virginia
Cheap movies... air conditioned theater... buttered popcorn... what else could you ask for?
One of the best places to catch a family-friendly flick during the dog days of summer is the University Mall Theatres, located near the George Mason University campus at 10659 Braddock Rd, Fairfax, VA 22032.
This week's movie (July 1 - July 5) is Madagascar, rated PG. Check out the IMDB parental guide for Madagascar here.
All seats for the Summer Cinema Camp are $2. You can purchase 10 tickets for $15. University Mall Theatres offers a season pass for only $11. All movies are shown Monday - Friday and start promptly at 10AM.
Outdoor Film Festival - Rosslyn, VA
Summer School
The next movie shown at the Outdoor Film Festival in Rosslyn, VA is:
Bring It On
Starring: Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, Jesse Bradford and Gabrielle Union
The Toro cheerleading squad from Rancho Carne High School in San Diego has got spirit, spunk, sass and a killer routine that's sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row. But for newly-elected team captain (Kirsten Dunst), the Toros' road to total cheer glory takes a shady turn when she discovers that their perfectly-choreographed routines were in fact stolen.
According to http://www.rosslynva.org/play/calendar/film-festival:
Gateway Park is located at the foot of Key Bridge at 1300 Lee Highway, two blocks from the Rosslyn Metro. After 6:00 p.m., parking is available for $3 across Lee Highway at the Atlantic Parking Garage on Moore Street, next to Continental.
Movies are shown rain or shine. However, movies will be canceled for severe weather, including heavy rains and strong winds.
Note: Alcohol consumption is not permitted in Gateway Park.

Summer Movie Express (for kids)
The younger set can enjoy a great movie, too!
Regal Entertainment Group sponsors the Summer Movie Express for young movie fans, as well as those that are young at heart :-) During this 9-week festival, participating Regal Cinemas, United Artists and Edwards Theatres will offer selected G or PG rated movies for only a dollar on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10:00. A portion of proceeds from the Summer Movie Express will be donated to the Will Rogers Institute.
I checked the listings for the theaters closest to where I live in Northern Virginia, and most offer the same schedule. Upcoming movies are listed below.
